2022.01.20 23:48 CreamedAvocado [Original Xbox] [2004-2008] Open world game where you start on an island and then have to fight a guerrilla army.
Similar graphics to the first Far Cry
Bad guys wore red uniforms
There was a lot of driving
Big brawny main character
The start of the game puts you on an island with a bit of a cut-scene, and the bad guy shoots someone in front of you, then you get sent to the main open world map.
It was one of the first games I ever played (my mom bought it at a pawn shop with no cover). Sadly, I can't remember much about it and I can't say I ever beat the game, so I don't know the ending, which is why I am looking to find it.

2022.01.20 23:48 ttlynotluzir Recommendations? + Side Tangent
I'm a newer fan of Vkei, I love the looks and the music. My favorite bands/artist at the moment consist of Arlequin (a more recent band but pls check them out I love their sound) and (I think a solo project? correct me if I'm wrong) LAREINE.
Side Tangent: I wish vkei was slightly biggepopular, I have to dig through so much to see some new music and I don't have anyone IRL that appreciates or likes vkei. Being young (19) I feel like I missed vkei's peak and I'm left wishing for a revival. I also ADORE some bands (Arlequin) and get sad when I can't see them live, low-key (high-key) kills me. Also, the fashion is to DIE for and I want to remake them so badly! But still the music slaps so it keeps me invested, also theres just something about the melodies that sound different from western music, I think it might be the scale or something I honestly forgot but I watched a video discussing it a long while ago.
Anyways thats my question and side tangent.
Thank You if you read this far ^^

2022.01.20 23:48 Spidercube My biggest issue specifically with Valhalla, not the RPG games in general
I wrote the following as a reply to another thread. Without realizing it, I wrote 1300 words about Assassin's Creed. I figured since I spent all that time writing out my opinion, I may aswell share it more openly and ask what others think.
Theres a lot I dislike about Valhalla, but most of my criticisms would be more about the newer games in general. I could bitch about the lack of parkour and advanced movement, the less focus on stealth, the lack of focus on the Assassins, but Valhalla never really tried to have any of those in the first place. Why complain about poorly executed movement mechanics if that was never supposed to be part of the game? It'd be like complaining that the horse mechanics in minecraft aren't as good as the horse mechanics in RDR2. I feel then that my most valuable criticism of Valhalla would be not of something they didn't try to do, but something thar they did try to do and failed.
I am not a fan of Odyssey. But one thing it does very very well is how it handles builds and gear. A simple youtube search can present to you countless different builds, using all sorts of armor, a smorgasbord of engravings, and a couple unique weapons. Not to mention the variety of abilities and mastery levels. The engraving system on its own is spectacular, allowing you to stick any legendary engraving from a weapon you dislike onto one that you do. Maybe you're playing an Assassin build with daggers, and there's a spear with a really cool legendary perk except the spear only has warrior damage and the stats don't really work for you. Problem solved, you can slap that perk onto your daggers, or any other weapon you like! Want a build where you can't use your abilities, health is capped at 25%, you die in 2 hits, but you do an additional 450% damage? Absolutely an option. How about a build where you can one hit assassinate any enemy in the game, and using just one or two assassin abilities can take out any boss? Just as possible. The possibilities are never ending, and that feeling you get when you find that one helmet with +Assassin Damage, +Critical hit Damage, and +Critical hit chance which you've needed to complete your ultimate Assassin build for so long is just pure satisfaction.
In Valhalla, there is no randomly generated gear. No problem, there's still ~25 armorsets in the game and if you've got the DLC and pay attention to Reda you're easily working with 35+ sets, 5 pieces of gear per set. That's plenty of gear. Plenty of perks. Plenty of room for customization.
In Valhalla, all the armor works as a set, and you need at least 2-3 pieces of gear from a set in order to get any bonus. Well, that definitely limits creativity a bit, as you can have at most 2 armor sets lesser perks active at once. You'll never get the full bonus unless you commit to one set. But with 25 armor sets that still leaves a ton of room for creativity. I mean, how many combinations of 2 can you make out of 25 armor perks?
In Valhalla, the vast majority of the armor perks (especially lesser armor perks) aren't really that useful. Most stealth perks are useless once you get the Critical assassinate skill. Attack damage perks have a very minor effect, were talking a benefit of less than 10%. Many perks are tied to abilities, which can help if you like to spam abilities but otherwise is useless. Really the only perks that are even vaguely noticeable are ones that give you back health. There's a handful of moderately interesting perks like the Taranis pack, but given these sets aren't in the base game, they really don't help the situation. But hey, at least we have the engraving system!
In Valhalla, the engraving system is replaced with a similar system involving runes. Any fully upgraded piece of gear can house 3 runes. Some gear pieces can even house special runes. So, how much do these major runes help? Well probably half of them are tied to circumstances in combat. Block 3 times, be surrounded by 3 or more enemies, increase damage after a dodge, that sort of thing. Moderately useful if you use a sheild or find yourself dodging a lot, but otherwise quite forgettable. Some runes are more just general Stat buffs. Increase attack after each hit is a good one, as you'll be hitting plenty. Again, nothing game changing. Nothing even all that noteworthy. There are a few runes that are though, such as ones that give you health or apply a status effect to your weapons. Throw a fire rune on Surtr's sword and wear the hels damnation armor and you'll be burning through enemies health. Throw a couple health runes on some flails and wear the Gothic set and you'll basically never run out of health. But adding runes that do fire to an armor set that also does fire, in order to do EXTRA fire in combat, is that fun? Challenging? Conducive to creativity? Or is it just an extra step that will allow you to do 10% more damage?
In Odyssey you could apply skill points to your masteries, which could completely change the game for you. Masteries could take you up to critical hitting 100% of the time or being 100% immune to certain damage if you knew what you were doing and set up your stats right. In Valhalla we still aren't 100% sure what masteries even do. I have 56 points in all 3 masteries, 168 total, and I have yet to notice any difference in 350 hours of gameplay. From my understanding each mastery ads 0.1% to its related stats, so in 350 hours I've gained a whopping +5.6% to all my stats. For comparison, 168 mastery points in Odyssey could give me an extra 25% damage with my preferred weapon, additional 20% crit chance, additional 40% crit damage, additional 40% health, 20% armor penetration, and 10% damage restored as health. That would make me a God compared to a player with no mastery levels in Odyssey. And in Valhalla it makes me stab 5.6% more effectively.
So in Odyssey, one persons build could be vastly different from another's. Maybe your build allows you to one hit any enemy, maybe mine allows me to be literally invincible, and maybe someone else's has one that will kill anything in a 30 meter radius with some clever use of abilities and engravings. In Valhalla you can wear basically whatever you want, cuz the difference between the highest damage build and the lowest damage build is less than 10% damage. So just pick whatever armorset has the best perks (probably mentors, Thegns, or Thor's. Gothic, Hel's Damnation, Draugr, or Taranis if you've got the extra helix credits or love doing Reda's Daily's ((guilty)), and if you've got the DLC then the Paladin or Druidic set) and then transmog it however you like. Throw on whatever runes you want, maybe do fire/poison ones if you like using elemental abilities, otherwise stick to attack and crit modifiers, and then go raiding with the boys. You're set, and all that work you did applying runes to your armor is gonna end up giving you maybe an extra 10% in whatever field you specialized in, and on the rare chance you went with an elemental focused build then your sword might light on fire slightly more often than usual.
I get what they were going for. Not everyone loves RPG mechanics, myself included. Maybe if they kept the gear and stats but made all the gear and stats nearly useless, both parties would be happy? Well from my understanding nobody is pleased. If you're gonna do RPG mechanics, commit. Have confidence in your product. Or at least do them well. Valhalla has all the dressing of an RPG and all the substance of, well, a modern ubisoft game.

What is everyone’s experience with after market tonneau covers? I am looking more for the roll up ones because I am not a fan of how the fold up ones cover the back window. Is there a significant difference between a 500-1000 dollar one? I am open to suggestions!

2022.01.20 23:47 chris-Sedlak BC upsets Notre Dame 73-71
Swartz had 28 points for BC and Makayla Dickens added 20 off the bench for the Eagles in this massive victory. BC was a bubble team but this win will give them a needed boast to push them safely in the field. The Irish struggled with turnovers tonight giving the ball away 18 times. BC also hit eleven threes in this game.
